Nucane Low GI Sugar Launches in Africa

March 25th: Eswatini

The Eswatini Sugar Association (ESA) has now officially launched Nucane Low GI sugar, made in Africa as a first for the continent. It is now available for both retail and industrial sales in Southern Africa and exports into Europe.

“As Eswatini Sugar Association, we are always committed to obtaining maximum value and returns for the benefit of our members, not just for today but tomorrow as well. It is therefore essential that ESA takes a leadership stance on key areas such as sustainability and innovation so we can continue to help our vital and vibrant industry grow and prosper as both customers and consumers evolve.” stated Phil Mnisi, CEO of ESA. “Our partnership with Nutrition Innovation gives us unique access to their Nucane™ Low GI technology to develop new sugar specifications which both complement and extend our existing range of products”

Nucane Low GI Sugar utilises polyphenols, that are natural to cane sugar, to consistently lower the glycemic response of sucrose when consumed. This product, also available in markets like Australia and South East Asia, has already completed successful production trials in Eswatini and will be available for both industrial and retail customers both nationally and for export in SACU and EU.

Nutrition Innovation Founder, Dr David Kannar and CEO, Matthew Godfrey, joined the ESA leadership team as well as Honourable Eswatini Ministers of Commerce, Agriculture and Health to launch Nucane Low GI sugar, made in Africa.
